To some, elites are gods to others they are devils. The way we view elites shows that we believe them to be responsible or hold the key for great things and on the flip side they are also responsible for all the terrible things. This view suggests that we as a whole hold no responsibility for society, we are powerless, so why even try?
If you subscribe to this view then why bother with elections, protests, and petitions. Because they are nothing but elaborate ways of begging elites to do things we want and, if our requests benefit them, they might listen.
