Walter block argues that the behaviour of the individuals representing a scientific position can influence whether the average person who knows little to nothing about the science supports their view.

For example, If in your mission to convince people that climate change is an existential threat, you start harassing, diminishing, and insulting anyone who opposes you. The average person who works in a supermarket, an office, or anywhere that suggests they know little about the actual science, is likely to view your behaviour and on instinct oppose you.
The same can be said about those who support enforcing vaccinations or compel behaviours for the good of the wider society.
