From the article,
As a devout Christian, I’ve always grown up with the view that life begins at the point of conception; abortion is, therefore, morally wrong as it ends the life of an unborn child. I am, however, firmly in favour of the ultimate choice resting with the woman who bears the child as she is the one who is going to have to carry that baby through a potentially traumatic 9 month period. A Texas Abortion Law states that a woman can only have an abortion up to 6 weeks. A near-ban as most women don’t know they are pregnant at this point. The law fundamentally stems from an idea that a fetal heartbeat can be detected at 6 weeks and therefore life has begun. I stand by it. I’m all for women having the choice over whether to have an abortion or not, but do believe tougher restriction need to be in place to protect the life of an unborn child.
